Tyler - Breakfast Week 1 Results

Monday - Made scrambled eggs and little smokies.  I'm now cooking breakfast for 4 of us in the morning.  That takes a little time-but it's worth it.  Tyler ate a few bites of eggs and more of the little smokies.  We got in the car - early morning rush - he asked for pringles because he was still hungry.  Yes, I had pringles in the car--not a healthy snack in the car for the kids.  I gave them to Tyler-I didn't want him to feel hungry.  Monday, not so good.  Baby Steps-We are making progress.

Tuesday - Scrambled eggs and little smokies.  Tyler ate about the same as Monday plus Hershey's kisses.  Damn candy in the house.  Just broke rule #2.  Keep trying.

Wednesday - Scrambled eggs and little smokies.  We all sit down to eat (actually Dad, Tyler & Olivia sit and eat while I load the car-I already ate.)  and Tyler sees that Dad has toast.  Tyler wants toast and ends up eating 2 slices for breakfast...YIKES...  So far not good.  I think I'll have a discussion with Dad about meals.  What are Dad's intentions?  Is he going Paleo?  What about our children-I guess I need to discuss with Dad his opinion of our children's eating plan.  What will I do if Dad's not on board?  We will have to come to some sort of decision.

Thursday - Had a conversation with Dad.  He wants to eat healthy but he's just stuck in his routine.  Dad wants the kids healthy too.  I get the feeling he's not 100% sold on Paleo yet.  Dad's big concern is that the kids get away from the candy and cookies.  Dad does like my idea of a 70-30 goal for the kids (70% of the time eat Paleo).  I told Dad the best way for him to change his own routine would be to take baby steps.  Step 1-Drop the toast with breakfast and let's see what happens.

Tyler's Thursday breakfast:  Scrambled eggs and little smokies-The bowl sat next to Tyler for 30 minutes and he didn't touch it.  I was busy getting everything packed for the day and I realized we were late.  Struggled with Tyler to get his clothes on for school-drama, more drama, etc., etc., etc.  Got him in the car and handed him teddy grahams and marshmallows.  This sucks.  I had to put something in his stomach.

Two thoughts on this.  First, I've read that if you offer a child a food enough times that he will eventually eat it-that's why I keep making the eggs.  But how many more mornings should I give him the same thing?  Or did I read this about babies-I can't remember now?  Second, I've got to try something different for breakfast?

Friday  - Not giving Tyler eggs again today.  I gave him chocolate chip waffles, yes the bad frozen ones.  But that's okay.  I'm on a mission.  I've got a new idea.  I've always wanted a waffle press.  So today I have an excuse to buy one.  Tomorrow we will have another taste test and we will make Paleo waffles with Paleo friendly chocolate chips.  I'm going to involve Tyler in the process of making them.  If all goes well-we will make our own for next week.  Wish me luck!
